Mirrors in Performance

I am interested in the idea that people tend use their faces as a mirror for those around them – mirroring back what the world wants to see. Otherwise known as being a ‘people pleaser’: I am guilty of it too. I would need to research the psychology behind this concept in order to understand it further, but I find it fascinating. I believe human behaviour to be a good stimulus for devising a performance. This brings me to look at how mirrors can be used in a piece of theatre. I have the idea that I can use a large mirror, or maybe several, and angle them so that the audience can only see reflections of me but not my full self. Maybe I am off-stage.
